DAN O2 Provider Class

As long ago as 1878, Paul Bert demonstrated that oxygen breathing at one atmosphere relieved symptoms of cardiopulmonary decompression sickness in animals. Since then, a plethora of reports has confirmed these early findings and the breathing of 100% oxygen has now been firmly established as the first aid treatment of choice for decompression illness and certain other diving-related maladies. Unfortunately, most divers, including divemasters and instructors, do not yet have the appropriate traing to administer oxygen to divers who require it. However, the Divers Alert Network, and certain other organizations (like Dutchess Diving Center), have now established excellent courses designed to train divers in oxygen provision so that they can optimize the assistance given to a fellow diver in the event of a diving accident.

The on scene management of diving emergencies by providing oxygen first aid is an area of critical importance for all divers. An ever increasing body of evidence indicates that following the primary assessment (the ABC's), emergency oxygen is the single most effective first aid measure for decompression sickness (DCS), arterial gas embolism (AGE) and near drowing

Now is the time to learn how to administer Oxygen. No first aid or CPR training is required, however both are recommended. Non-Divers are welcome.

Stop in the store and pickup training manual. Sign up to attend one of our 3-4 hour classes.

Check our Continuing Education Schedule That's all there is to it. As you know we either supply O2 on site or arrange with the boat captain to have Oxygen on board when ever we dive as a group, learn how to help each other should you ever have the need.
