Deep Diving
You will learn how to plan a deep dive, become familiar with the special equipment and techniques for deep diving, and gain a healthy respect for deep water.
You will also learn about:
- the use of computers for deep diving
- decompression theory
- procedures for omitted decompression
- improving your buoyancy control and breathing skills
With the skills learned during this unit of the course, and a smart, tempered attutude, you can begin enjoying and appreciating the challenge of diving in deeper water.
Night Diving
This unit of the course will provide you with a basic understanding of how to dive safely at night or in turbid water.
Some of the topics covered during this unit include:
- activities associated with night and turbid water diving
- the special equipment required (especially lights)
- preparing for a limited visibility dive
- the dive
- the advanced techniques of limited visibility diving.
Night diving can provide a great deal of enjoyment for the sport diver, opening new diving possibilities that were once undesirable or unimaginable.
Wreck Diving
You will learn about the skills and equipment that are required for exploring wrecks, including how to research and locate wrecks.
Topics will include:
- misconceptions about wreck diving
- the rules and dangers of wreck diving
- conservation of wreck
- wreck diving equipment
- diving the wreck
- advanced wreck diving
Navigation Diving
Learning to navigate is an important step toward being a truly independent diver because it provides the means to explore the underwater world without relying on a guide.
You will learn about:
- natural navigation
- compass navigation
- special navigation situations.
With the skills you acquire, you will be able to incorporate navigation into your dive plan, use navigation techniques to reach a dive site and return to the exit area, and enjoy the spectrum of possibilities provided by knowing how to use a compass.
